Sarah and Tony are a very relaxed couple and they wanted not only to share their special day with family and friends, and also for their guests to have a great time. As a close and long term friend of Sarah's mother, Bronwen, I was so excited when they asked me to be their celebrant - and a guest at the reception. I have to say that it was one of the most enjoyable weddings I have ever attended. Sarah and Tony gave me a few ideas of what they wanted for their ceremony but were happy to leave the details up to me. I guess they reasoned that as I have known Sarah since she was 5 years old, and have got to know the wonderful Tony over the past couple of years, that they could trust me to write a ceremony that was true to them.

They chose
Clifton Gardens
for the ceremony and hoped for good weather, as their wet weather option
was a bit of a drive from there. The day started bright and sunny, but
did start to cloud over a little as I arrived at about 4.30 to set up for the 5 pm
ceremony. However, Sarah soon arrived with her two sons and the wedding
ceremony got underway. Jordan and his friend Mack played a much appreciated
recessional of music from
Love Actually on their trumpets and
then....the storm struck.

The newlyweds, Sarah and Tony, sheltering from the storm with a glass of champers.
We all dashed for cover in the picnic shelters and laughed as the rain
poured down. However, it was a summer storm and was all over in about 20
minutes and we all came out for photos before heading off to Ripples
at Chowder Bay for a most relaxed and enjoyable reception. The bride and groom had a
guard of honour of guests holding sparklers as they left in their water
taxi at the end of the evening.
