A Civil Commitment Ceremony

Some couples may not wish to have a registered marriage ceremony but would like to publicly express their commitment to each other.

This can be done with a commitment ceremony which is very similar to a wedding ceremony but does not use the words prescribed by law and of course is not recognised as a legal marriage.

A commitment ceremony is also appropriate for same sex couples. In Australia, same sex marriages have not yet been recognised in law, but to the couples concerned their commitment to each other is the same as in any other wedding ceremony.
The ceremony follows a similar format to a marriage ceremony.
